December 11, 2000 marked the inaugural meeting for a small group of Firebird enthusiasts. The group of six had met each other locally at a car show, a car dealership, and a gas station, separately. Despite the variety in their places of meeting, there was a common feeling of passion that was undeniable. They shared the love of a car that needed a home, a core, and a club. Born was the Mountain State Firebird Club, and West Virginia finally had a home base for the fabulous Firebird and its enthusiasts.
The first meeting was held in order to establish the goals and mission statement of the club, and also to create the club banner. With the help of a local car dealership, the club held meetings monthly in a central location and had a site for its 1st Annual Spring Cruise-In. The cruise-in was a wet but exciting endeavor, and record-breaking performance should be noted for a club that was just four months old!
From its inception until December, 2004, the Mountain State Firebird Club continued its mission to promote the upkeep and preservation of one of the greatest muscle cars of all time, and to organize activities for club members. Unfortunately, tragedy struck in 2002, and our hearts were filled with remorse as we watched the last two F-Bodies, one Trans Am and one Camaro, both red ragtops, roll off the Ste. Therese assembly line.
With no club of its own in the state, the Camaro seemed like an orphan. The motion was made and voted upon unanimously at the December '04 meeting to open up the club to include the Firebird's only living brother. The mission and goals are unchanged. The Mountain State F-Body club was developed in an effort to continue the growth of the club, and foster undying devotion to two great muscle cars that share a bloodline. Two cars, one club; endless possibilities!
The club hold meetings at Anthony Chevrolet Cadillac. Contact information is listed on this page. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us! This club was started by enthusiasts and is meant for those who share the same passion. We welcome all Firebirds and Camaros no matter what the year, the model, or the condition. (Just take a look at some of these pictures!) Enjoy!
